Baby News
Erin and I went to her study appointment this morning... she is in the preeclampsia study. Anyway, as a part of the study, this morning, we got to go through another ultrasound. This one lasted a long time. The last one was about ten minutes. This one went more than thirty as the doctor (not a technician) went and checked every wiggle, widget, and digit. The baby does have ten fingers and ten toes. The doctor tells us that the movement we could see (and yes, it was captured on tape and will be transferred digitally for our families... meaning parents) eliminated a lot of problems that might exist for the baby.
The real outcome of this visit (well, for us) was to determine what the gender of the baby is. For the doctor it was, in part, to determine whether or not Erin was in the high-risk area for preeclampsia and to see how the baby was growing.... mostly Erin and preeclampsia.
What we learned:
We are having a boy.

Hi guys,
Speaking from experience, boys are a lot of fun, although they are prone to broken bones, stitches, trips to the emergency room, etc. I must tell you an interesting story. Friends with both a boy and a girl had an emergency with their son and I offered to bring their daughter to dance recital rehearsal. Well, from that experience I can tell you that God was good to me for only giving me boys, what an arduous day that was. I guess I was more cut out for soccer and baseball games and yes, even band performances and football games (John, both my boys were band geeks - clarinet, flute, and tuba). I am really excited for you both. I am more than certain that this little one will grow up to be a fine young man. No names to suggest yet, but I will think on it. Take care, Talk to you soon.

I'm thrilled for you three! You will be a marvelous father and Erin a fabulous mom. Funny enough I had a dream about you guys last night, that I was visiting and gave Erin some '80's t-shirt with a Care Bear on it, like Sunshine Bear because she makes me laugh. I have no idea why so I'm blaming weird dreams on David. I made my name suggestion on Erin's blog.
